My Windows 7 Experience

Posted by computerglobe on April 3, 2010 at 2:53 PM Comments comments (0)

Hey, guys!  Yes, I am running Windows 7 and I have been running it for about 6 days.  I have to say, I absolutely love it!  There are so many new features in Windows 7!  The UI changed and everything.  You might be thinking, I didn't know Windows 7 could run on Computerglobe's desktop.  Well, It can and it runs smoothly.  Remember, I have 512mb ram.  I think Microsoft did a very good job creating this Operating System and it feels as fast as XP but maybe a little faster.  It boots slower but it feels faster than XP.  My system rating is 2.9.  It makes your overall system rating number by your lowest number.  Their are a bunch of new features from XP.  You can't really compare Windows XP and Windows 7 because XP is more than 7 years old.  I am officially a Windows 7 fan and from now on, I will not be talking about Windows XP.  There is a huge performace difference from Vista and XP.  I will probably not boot into XP anymore on my pc.  Microsoft wanted to make this OS feel faster than Vista which they succeeded.  I wil post more articles about Windows 7!

Do you guys want to find an application similar to Microsoft Word that is Open Source?  I know I did a year ago!  I found an application called AbiWord about 6 months ago and I downloaded it and installed it.  It took about half a minute to install and it has almost the same features of Microsoft Word.  You know me, I love Open Source Software.  AbiWord might look like Microsoft Word, but it is different.  Remember, Open Source means that it is free and anyone can change the Source Code.  I have been using AbiWord for a long time ago and I say, I love it!  Microsoft Word costs money but there are rumors going around that the 2010 Microsoft Office will be free to compete with Google Docs.  AbiWord is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux!  To be honest, I forgot how I heard about AbiWord.  When you click on the AbiWord Icon on your PC, it pops up almost instantly.

My Customer Support Care With Hewett Packard

About 4 days ago, I contacted HP through an Instant Message.  I had to put basic information about myself such as my name, my email and where I live and my phone number.  They didn't call me or send me any exclusive offers because I didn't sign up for that.  I hit the connect button and it took about 3 minutes for me to connect with somebody.  It was a woman and her name was Mary I think.  She was nice and she made me feel like I was explaining stuff really good, which I think I was.  I asked her a question about my parent's new computer because it didn't come with a Windows Vista Home Premium DVD.  I thought that was very odd.  She told me about the partition on the hard drive that has the restor option so it feels like it is brand new.  She also told me that I can access the drive by pressing F11 when I see the Compaq bios screen.  She was very understanding and she gave me a bunch of information.  I had another problem that was an OS related question and I was surprised that she answered it correctly!  I was frustrated because the Flight Simulator folder short cut didn't show up in the All Programs List under the Start button in Vista.  She said that the icon was put into the Games shortcut in the start menu.  Then she asked me if I had any other questions and I said no.  She then said have a nice afternoon and that was it.  I would give their customer support 5 out of 5 stars.

Almost all of the Email providers have their own instant messenger program for people to chat to each other by typing.  Their is Windows Live Messenger, Jabber, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, AIM and many more.  How would you like to sign into more than one account with one instant messenger program?  You are probably thinking, that this is not possible.  With Pidgin, that can happen!  No more using a bunch of instant messenger programs at the same time!  I bet all of those instant messenger programs are slowing down your computer!  Pidgin is easier than ever to use!  It is available for Windows Linux, and Mac!  Yep, Pidgin can run in every OS!  Pidgin by default, comes installed on Ubuntu.  I love Pidgin and I use it every day!  It is not a memory hog either!

Windows 7 Update #1

Hey guys, I was on vacation for a week so you know I was busy and I didn't feel like updating the site on vacation.  Windows 7 is looking nice and I might even make the change when it releases to stores.  Microsoft is being extremely strict with Windows 7 Starter Editon.  Before they were only going to allow 3 programs to run at the same time, but they decided to delete that.  Now you can run unlimited ammount of applications using Windows 7 Starter.  If you think that sounds cool, wait untill you hear this!  Microsoft has decided that you can't change your background in Windows 7 Starter!  I think that is a little too overboard with the limited things to do in Windows 7 Starter.  Right now, it has a background image with a Betta fish in gray water!  Why gray?  Well, Betta fish can't live in dirty gray water so maybe Microsoft thinks that we can't live using Windows 7 Starter!  Windows Aero is not included.  So, you are stuck with the background with a Betta fish in gray water!  Isn't that horrible?  Maybe their will be a 3rd party application that will allow you to change the background in Windows 7 Starter.  If their will be a 3rd party application software that does that then, I will switch to Windows 7.

More About Windows 7

Hey guys!  I haven't been updating my website because I have been very busy lately.  Yesterday their was a horrible storm and their was a tornado that hit a mobile home park next to my neighborhood.  My neighborhood didn't get damaged at all.  This morning I had to bring my grandparents to the airport.  OK, lets get on topic.  Windows 7 is what Windows Vista should have been and even Microsoft knows that.  When first installed, Windows Vista uses 259mb of ram!  That is very insane.  Windows 7 only uses 214mb of ram.  Just over 200mb of ram.  Windows 7 RTM edition is out right now for testing.  This is the final beta build of Windows 7.  The ISO image is around 3gb.  I think that is a lot.  I personally like operating systems where the install can fit on a 700mb cd.  Windows 7 will come out on October 22nd 2009.  Many computer geeks are waiting for this release.  I am waiting patiently but I am not excited because I personally like Linux better.  The visual looks of Windows 7 is insane!  I think it looks better than Vista.  The OS size once installed, is still big but not as big as Windows Vista.  The OS size is about 8gb.  However, you can make the ISO size and the OS size smaller with a program called Vlite.  Well that was more about Windows 7!  We will come out with more articles of Windows 7 so stick around!

How To Transform Windows Vista Or Windows XP Into Windows 7

Posted by computerglobe on April 3, 2010 at 2:41 PM Comments comments (0)

First of all, I have to say thank you for giving me over 600 views on this website!  Do you want to make your ugly boring Windows to look like Windows 7?  Do you want the Windows 7 features for free?  Well, there is a transformation pack for XP and Vista to make it look like Windows 7!  It is free and it is open source.  This company has made Vista transformation packs a long time ago.  Trust me, this website has noo viruses, but it might have some popups.  I have used the transformation pack and it is cool!  The required ammount of ram to use this is 512mb of ram.  This transformation pack comes with some 3rd party applications.  If you want to uninstall it, just go to control panel, then add/remove and you will find it in the list.  It takes about 5 minutes to install and 2 minutes to uninstall.

Is Windows 7 Worth The Download?

I have been wondering what Windows 7 is like.  I know it is like Vista but uses less ram.  The theme looks awesome to me!  The ISO is so huge!  I wish it fit on a CD.  I have only seen videos of Windows 7 and my uncle is RC testing it.  I only used it for 30 minutes and I have to say that it is stable.  It is way more stable than Vista.  The release date for stores is in October.  This is what Windows Vista should have been.  I can't believe that Vista is already in SP2.  I still like Ubuntu and XP.  I probably won't upgrade to Windows 7 since I have low ram.  I have seen people on running it in 256mb of ram by changing a file on the DVD ISO.  You can Beta test Windows 7 by downloading the ISO for free at the Microsoft website.
